Keep it creative Sculpture GardenStudents will start in the classroom, cutting glass and tile mosaic pieces for stepping stones and benches.
Students will learn to draft and present proposals to the board, write grants and work with nonprofits, seeing first hand how the arts impact society. Students will learn the tile masonry trade and how all artists use math and science. They will learn through STEAM science, technology, engineering, art, and math how to create 3D visual arts. And finally they will see the impact their works have on visitors and students who interact with the artworks they create. We hope to install sculptures annually. This years Art Club Charleston Marathon/Youth Art Endowment sculpture contest entry won 1st place, advocates recycling; and building communities through art. We hope to create and install artworks in harmony with nature and promote social responsibility. Join our art students in an effort to recycle, clean up and protect the wildlife in and around our school and community and create a beautiful place to rest your feet when you come to see a performance. |
Giving Back to the CommunityArt Club is currently illustrating a novel for Caw caw Interpretive. Our students will produce 16 unique images for the novel, which tells the story of the park mascot, Bandit the Raccoon, with the intention of raising money for our non-profit organization, The Parklands Foundation.
The novel will be published by the end of the school year. |
